Mecca Bingo emerged back in 1961 headed up by Eric Morley (Miss World Founder) who was the general manager of Mecca Dancing who needed to increase the number of people visiting the Dance Halls and chose Bingo as the way forward. This strategy proved successful and the company grew over the next 17years and he subsequently became a director of Mecca. Morley left the company after a disagreement with Grand Met (Parent Company) in 1978 ending his 25-year career with Mecca.
Mecca who’s head office is situated in Maidenhead, continued to grow and after several Merger’s and takeover ’s, Ladbrokes, Top Rank and various independents amongst them and finally now The Rank Group. The small catering and dance company had become a £Multi-Million leading Entertainment Group offering a premium soft gaming experience along with luxury interior’s and a good food and beverage offer, employing more than 11,000 people across the UK.
