About Jarglen Bingo

Jarglen was founded by brothers Bill and Horace Kendrick who worked in the haulage business. They started in bingo in the 1970s, creating a small chain in the Midlands. In 1982 they purchased the Fosse cinema in Leicester which opened on Bonfire night that year with John Waby as Manager. This club peaked at 6,000 admissions per week and they then opened the Ritz at Wigston and converted a former factory into the Ashmore Park Club. They later opened new builds at Fenton and Kingsbury Road before selling to Gala in 1999.

Other clubs in their chain included:

  • The Clifton at Great Barr
  • Clifton at Sedgley
  • The Dale in Willenhall
  • Majestic in Cradley Heath
  • Plaza in Stockland Green
  • The Rosum in Bloxwich
  • The Avion in Aldridge
  • The Imperial in Walsall

Thanks to John Waby and Mark Kane for the updates.
