Gala Clubs launched in October 1991 following the purchase of Granada Social clubs by the parent group Bass for £149 Million. They merged the clubs with their own Coral Social Clubs under the new name.

In the early 1990’s they embarked on an extensive new build programme. In 1994 they sold a number of their smaller clubs to Cascade. In 1996 they purchased the Paramount chain. Bass sold the business to Venture capitalists in December 1997.

Under the new ownership with CEO John Kelly, the company embarked on an extensive expansion programme. In 1999 the Ritz clubs were purchased from Vardon. In 1999 the Jarglen chain was purchased and Riva followed in 2000. The County chain in Scotland was purchased in 2005. Following the purchase of the company by Caledonian in 2015, the clubs rebranded to Buzz in 2018-19. The company currently operates 119 clubs.
